Adelma Association
We accompany people at the end of life in a human, practical and emotional way.
We do so with method, with competence, and always with respect for the dignity of the person.
Adelma was born from the conviction that no one should face the end of life in loneliness and abandonment. We believe that the final phase of existence, however inescapable, can remain a space of dignity, of meaning and of humanity, provided that someone chooses to be there.
Our principles
We recognise the intrinsic dignity of every human being, regardless of health, beliefs or social condition.
We promote each person's capacity to decide on the choices concerning their own path of care and of life.
What is confided to us is kept private and safeguarded, in compliance with data protection regulations.
We work with the entire network of care, within the framework of the National Strategy for Palliative Care.
Our services are offered entirely free of charge thanks to donations from our supporters.
Every doula is selected, trained and supervised, and clearly recognises the limits of her non-medical role.
The people
An INELDA (International End-of-Life Doula Association)-certified end-of-life doula, he has completed training in palliative care at SUPSI and is a healthcare collaborator with the Swiss Red Cross. His approach integrates end-of-life support with somatic practices, mindfulness and trauma work, gained through training with internationally recognised teachers. He supports individuals and their families in their own homes, through non-judgemental listening, giving voice to their wishes and honouring moments of silence. At Adelma, he embodies the association's founding vision: to protect the dignity of every person, right to the very end.
A nurse, doula and coach, she combines the practical knowledge of a healthcare professional with the intuitive wisdom of someone who has personally navigated profound existential thresholds. Her approach to support does not impose rules, but empowers people to choose their own: a vision of care as awareness, in which the body is not an object to be treated but a place to be inhabited with truth and presence. As the founder of PurnaLuna, a support space dedicated to women, she brings to Adelma the sensitivity of someone who knows that life's thresholds – birth, transformation and death – call for someone capable of staying by one's side.
An expert in strategic philanthropy and impact management, he is Director of Philanthropy at a family office in Lugano and co-founder of Impact Hub Ticino, where he previously served as director. For many years, he has supported the launch and growth of social and poverty reduction projects in emerging economies, spanning social entrepreneurship, business incubation and sustainable development. At Adelma, he brings his experience in third-sector governance, helping to build a solid, transparent organisation capable of standing the test of time.
A business economist trained at SUPSI, he has built an international management career in corporate finance, holding positions of increasing responsibility, culminating in the role of General Manager for Switzerland at a leading group in the hearing health sector. Alongside his professional expertise, he has for many years been personally committed to voluntary work and development cooperation, including as treasurer of charitable organisations active in social and healthcare support. At Adelma, he ensures the rigorous financial management and accounting transparency that a public-benefit organisation owes to its supporters and the people it supports.
A professional specialising in organisation and coordination within the healthcare sector, she gained experience at the Cantonal Hospital Authority (EOC) and, more recently, at the Hildebrand Clinic's Ambulatory Center for Neurological Rehabilitation as Coordinator and Head of Administrative Management. Multilingual – German, Italian, English and French – she communicates clearly at all levels, building relationships of trust and fostering constructive interactions. At Adelma, she ensures that behind every care programme there is a well-run organisation, because caring for people also requires order, reliability and attention to detail.
Her practice grows out of the meeting of two languages: that of the body and that of the word. She is an INELDA-certified end-of-life doula (International End of Life Doula Association), a Shiatsu therapist and a Psychosomatic Mindfulness trainer; alongside this training she brings solid experience in project management and communications. Knowing both worlds makes her the natural bridge between the doulas' support work and the association's public voice. At Adelma, she coordinates the doulas, from training to accompaniment, and communications.
Director of Education at the International End-of-Life Doula Association (INELDA), she is a specialist nurse, birth and end-of-life doula, and educator with over twenty-five years' experience, having worked in home care and paediatric hospice care. She advocates for every person's right to die in the way that is most meaningful to them and has dedicated her professional life to putting death into context and alleviating the fear of it through education. Her status as an honorary member reflects Adelma's methodological alignment with INELDA and further underscores the association's commitment to the highest international standards in end-of-life doula training.
He dedicated his professional life to humanitarian work with Médecins Sans Frontières (Switzerland). He has witnessed first-hand the suffering, vulnerability and resilience of people in the world's most challenging contexts, gaining that direct understanding of human fragility which no theory can replace. At Adelma, he brings the perspective of someone who knows that care, even before it is a technique, is a choice to be present and that human dignity must be defended everywhere, especially in the final stages of life.
